O'Malley's Bar and Restaurant, situated in the seaside town of Aberyswyth, has long held a special place in the heart of its patrons. Nearly 20 years have passed since it first opened its doors, and since then it has seen a great many changes. It is our privilege that we get to share the latest of these changes with you, the public.
History of O’Malley’s Bar and Restaurant
O’Malley’s Bar and Restaurant was first set up in 1993 (then known as Joe's Bar), under the direction of Joe and Mary O’Malley. It came renowned throughout the area for its friendly atmosphere, the exemplary service of the staff, and the homemade, locally-produced food. O’Malley’s establishment was beloved throughout the community, and was deemed “the place to be” by the locals.
In 2010, Joe and Mary decided it was time they put their feet up and enjoyed their well-earned retirement. They passed O’Malley’s onto their eldest son, Michael, and so began a new and exciting phase in the history of this establishment. In recognition of the changes in the local community, with particular regards to increase in tourism and the predominance of its student population, Michael decided that this was the ideal time to give O’Malley’s a revamp. O’Malley’s was closed for refurbishment late 2010, and with great excitement, has now been reopened to the public.
The O’Malley family are both proud and excited by the new alterations, as they bring a new lease of life to the establishment, while still holding on to its most fundamental values- good food, good drink, and good service.
What we offer
O’Malley’s Bar and Restaurant now offers an expanded restaurant capable of seating 60, a refurbished bar with additional seating, large television screens, jukebox, and pool table, and a newly constructed function room ideal for large parties and special occasions. In the main bar, place has been designated for live entertainment, as well as a night-time cocktail bar to give the place a cosmopolitan appeal.
- Food is served everyday, with light snacks and lunch specials from 12pm to 4pm, and our A La Carte menu from 4pm to 9pm.
- Our bar is fully stocked with a range of beers (stout, ale, lager and cider), spirits, liquers, and non-alcoholic beverages. We also offer cocktails and a wide range of wines from all around the world. See our drinks menu for further details on what we have to offer.
- Live entertainment will take place in our main bar at weekends and on bank holidays. Keep an eye on our events page for information on what is taking place each week.
- O’Malley’s also provide you with the latest sports coverage in the comfort of our main bar. Further information regarding upcoming matches is on our events page.
